Zack’s Treehouse
In The Crossroads, Zack builds a tree house. Chris based it on the one he and his four brothers built when they were growing up on Signal Mountain in Tennessee. As you can probably tell, none of the Grabenstein boys became an architect or carpenter!
Characters
When writing The Crossroads, Chris used this Greyhound Bus Ad from a 1950s Life magazine as an inspiration for some of the characters. Does anybody look familiar?
Who’s the Author?
Can you tell which one is Chris? This is his class photo from the sixth grade, way back in 1967 when dinosaurs roamed the earth and Chris was almost 12, the same age as Kyle Keeley!
