ABOUT THE BOOK
The fifth installment of the hilarious illustrated STINKY’S STORIES chapter book series!
It’s story time again at Hickleberry Elementary with Stinky the stuffed skunk. This time, the kids are reading Cinderella! Everyone knows the story ends with Cinderella marrying the prince, but only Stinky knows what happened after they got engaged! In Cindersmella, Stinky tells the story of how (without Cinderella) the evil stepsisters’ house became a disgusting mess, why you shouldn’t eat a poison apple pie, and just how stinky a pair of glass slippers can get.
Filled with sweaty feet, sabotage, and a lot of bad apples, Cindersmella is the latest offering in the hilarious chapter book series from New York Times bestselling authors Chris and J.J. Grabenstein, with illustrations in every chapter from Alex Patrick. Reading has never been so much stinkin’ fun!
REVIEWS
“Stinky is a stuffed toy skunk who lives in a school library. He and the other stuffed animals come alive when the adults leave the room. In this ‘Stinky’s Stories’ installment, the children listen to the story of Cinderella but wonder what happened to the pair before the wedding. Some listeners are upset that the stepsisters bully Cinderella. Stinky tells them his extended version of the tale. Cinderella has plenty of her own issues to deal with, including a pair of smelly feet. This book is fun and loaded with references to gastrointestinal issues, foul-smelling feet, and lazy siblings. Kids will enjoy and laugh at the humorous parts of the story. Stinky has fun ways to help Cinderella and great modes of transportation provided by the fairy godmother. The story also teaches a few lessons; children will learn about dealing with bullies in a positive way and the possibilities of why the tormentors act the way they do. This fifth series installment is pure comedy, with funny text that is not too challenging. Every chapter includes great illustrations that lend the book a graphic novel feeling. They add to the story and help readers picture the events taking place. Characters are depicted in the artwork with a range of skin tones. VERDICT Young readers who like silliness and stinky feet will enjoy this fractured fairy tale.”
